Yep, but clubbing isnt quite the scene I was looking for, more a social gathering, drink etc for divorced, seperated or singlies in the 40+ range yes, but definately not the clubbing / meat market style that seems to be how its all turned out in the UK now.
Most English speaking social gatherings are organised through the usual channels - such as English Forum! - where attendees tend to be a healthy mix of ages between 28 - 50. EF events have historically not been meat market evenings, thank goodness, but your mileage may vary elsewhere.
May I recommend attending a comedy club ? Usually there is a healthy gender balance and people leave their baggage at the door. 200+ strangers laughing out loud together with a gin and tonic in their hand is IMO the best place to meet happy, fun people who are willing to talk to each other. You don't get that in pubs much.
