Do Not Shop At Navyboot

Well, if you must know, I went directly down the street, into a restaurant for our office Christmas party. It wasn't convenient to just walk out, although I would have liked to.

The way you wrote it was that it happened on the way not at.

I always call it 'das Navyboot'. Is that so wrong?

These sweeping genralisations are really useless. They always refer to an individual incident, ususaly with other circumstances such as lack of time, or the bloody ignorant sales staff don't spean Englsih.

Does anybody really think a brand like Navyboot could survive if this was general practice to provide shody goods ? They would never have got to where they have and in any case they would have been out of business in weeks.

With any large volume item, such as Navyboot sells there are bound to be a few which slip through the net and unless you go for a brand such as Hermes which is astronomical in price and quality it can't be avoided.

Ha! That's easy for you to say. But what if your hometown had been razed by a hurricane, flooded by the storm surge and colonised by African bees? What would you do then, eh?

Some people just don't think things through.

The problem is NOT learning, training and education, but Motivation. If you for example as a temporary department Boss manage to inspire and motivate your colleagues, the sky is the Limit. If you fail in this respect all the LTE is for die Füchse . Would the above mentioned l-t-e really decide Swiss Shops would be the best in the world

You might tell me where you can see good selling ? Sure not in Western Europe or North America, rather in Casablanca, Tunis, Alexandria, Amman , Beirut, Turkish-Cyprus, or Istanbul, or (yes) Athens.

No, not Athens. Athenian shopkeepers are even more rude than the shop assistants on the Bahnhofstrasse:

"Hey, mister. You wanna buy carpet?"

"No thanks, I've got one already."

"Fack you! Fack you and you mather!"

(actual conversation, repeated several dozen times over the space of 9 months)

Athens shop people were always nice to me (usually in English) and often simply wanted to talk a bit (good Greek coffee often) without any real sales prospects.

I on a City Holiday to Athens in November (it was cold) bought handkerchiefs in Athens Downtown and the seller allowed me to try various articles. And THIS at 01-AM ! Let's try to do so in Zürich ..... I on the same day, or rather in the same night arrived at a splendid Restaurant accross the parliament at 2-AM and got a perfect meal with Apero and Salad and Main Meal and a good wine and some good coffee at the end, for a Price which back home would have been sufficient for a Cervelat-mit-Büürli und ä Stange (beer)

Your reply apparently was humourous in a way they did not understand -- bear in mind that millions of people in the world SPEAK English quite nicely but do not understand

to explain this a bit. I had a year of English in the last year of Secondary School and then during three years of Commercial School, BUT I only got the things mentioned above when in London for 3 months and the language around was the same as the language of the teachers

Philippe Gaydoul is the grandson of Karl Schwery. Mr Gaydoul finally sold Denner to Migros, as Denner anyway in many places sailed sucessfully in the shadow of Migros outlets, so that Migros could sell alcoholic beverages big style without selling alcohol and could sell cigarettes without selling tobacco. Mr Gaydoul in the time since has established a Group of rather expensive Shops

The 1972 born chap of course has a sizeable war-chest, so that more will follow

In a VERKÄUFER_LEHRE, the emphasis is on sales/selling

but exactly here comes my opposition. My parents and me on visits to Texas in Restaurants met personnel with clearly minimal education and minimal training but MAXIMUM CHARM and MAXIMUM COMMITMENT -- and compared it with back home. Conclusion: reduce education and training but INCREASE motivation and pleasure. We in those places needed seconds to put the cutlery correctly but enjoyed the pleasant service. In one place, the waitress even took Mum to the kitchen to show her around, where personnel were very nice and discussed things like how do you this in Europe or what do you miss here or what did you see here first As a matter of fact, you in USA Restaurants can get quite personal and private with People you will never see again

The pedantic style of Swiss managers only too often leads to a cramped style but not what I call a good and pleasant service. The Tamils and Vietnamese chaps and girls in Swiss gastronomy rescued the show

According to your story, you have a right, under law , to refund. Send them an invoice, quoting the relevant law. If they don't pay up, go down the debt collection route.

Thanks, NotAllThere. Next time I'll remember this point, before I throw them and the receipt in the trash bin.

It was hard to prove something was wrong with the shoe, except for the birthing of my toes through the stretchy peep a boo hole.

It isn't this single incident which has any merit, but the general returns policy and attitude which some stores take. Granted, in the future, I'll take much more care before purchasing items, and ask more questions.

In this case, I felt cheated.

I would be angry too.

In August, I bought a pair of rain boots for my daughter. After few times wearing them, the soles had hugs holes in them. I went back to the store (Bata) and they exchanged them right away.
