Do you get extra insurance for skiing/sports?

And why so many insurance companies will try and show that many accident injuries were existing/long-term ailments.

Accident Insurance is relatively inexpensive but if it changed to cover the deductible and co-payments it would be a much higher price.

indeed, indeed. I forgot to add to my list above “diving” (Isla Mujeres, MX, 40m deep, to see some nice sharks).
And there, indeed, I had a problem with the insurance - they didn’t want to cover the diagnostics / care of the moderate hematotympanum (a light barotrauma) that I suffered, saying that it was not an accident, but a health condition :open_mouth: . We had several back & forths via email, and finally, I had to apply all of my researcher skills to find (in German!) some previous similar (although more severe) Swiss cases where the patients took the insurance to court - and won. I sent a more sound answer, with all the documentation to them, and, without responding to me, they paid all of the invoices…

For our (work) accident insurance, there is no deductible (that I’m aware of). Or better put, every time I used it, I never paid anything

Work paid accident insurance is different, it’s the accident insurance provided by the health insurance for children and non working adults (retirees, students, housewives etc) for which the deductible and co-pay conditions apply.

I’ll need to check this, but I’m sure that I’ve never been charged anything for the couple of times I’ve had treatment under my health insurance/accident extension. Just little things, an infected cat bite, a Stanley knife cut needing stitches, sorta thing, at our local ‘permanence’, i.e. a small walk-in Accident & Emergency clinic.

I think that the first time was with Assura, the second after I’d changed to Atupri, so not just a one-off. But I could be mistaken.

I had an accident in the last days of December.
