Dog registration in a new canton

I know, another dog thread from Jess...

Zola & I are settled into Bellinzona in Ticino, after departing Basel almost 2 weeks ago. I got sick very quickly after the move, so I wasn't quite thinking straight when I went to the municipal office to register myself, and of course forgot to register Zola

So I went back to the municipal office the other day. Unfortunately there was a new clerk there who didn't speak English, and apparently my unique gift in life is being utterly useless in 3 different languages now I thought I got my point across, and she gave me a form to complete and the email address of the local police. I quickly realised the form was for a new dog owner (it said something about 'date you took ownership of the dog'), and clarified this. She said, 'okay, don't worry about the form, just email the police at this address, they will register your dog.'

It's all sounding rather informal, which is generally not my experience in Switzerland so far, but anyhow. I email the polizia with all the info I think they'll need - Zola's details, AMICUS number, the paid invoice for dog tax in Basel, plus my own information including departure certificate from Basel, contact info, etc.

Today I have received the below response:

Which I interpret as, you're now registered, nothing further required.

But... again, this seems very informal compared to what I went through in Basel. Will I receive an invoice for dog tax? Does the fact that I paid for the new year of dog tax in Basel in April affect the dog tax here in Ticino? Will the polizia notify AMICUS, or is that something I (or my new vet) is supposed to do?

I've heard various comments about how the italian Swiss are a little more... relaxed than their German counterparts but I still want to make sure I'm on the right side of the paperwork!

I will double-check and update your personal details (including the new address) in AMICUS myself. I think police doesn't modify this part. And the last time I changed municipality, I have submitted form of the former and new addresses some time after the move. But in the end if I remember correctly, everything was done even before that - dog was moved during the registration of our move. So such an informal reply is fine. They will send you a bill next year.

Tell Amicus yourself. I think you can even log in and change your details on their website. I think that’s probably all you need to do.

Thank you folks, this has put my mind at ease.

I logged into Amicus and it turns out that you can't change your address in AMICUS yourself, however I didn't actually need to - it's been changed already. I guess the Ticino gemeinde took care of this for me.
