Dog related things in Bern

Hi all,

I am relatively new in Bern and just recently brought my puppy here as well. I am a bit overwhelmed with everything, so I thought maybe this forum could help with some advice.

(My puppy is 4 months old and we live in Breitenrain).

1. We would really like to find other English speakers with young dogs to meet up with and take walks together. Is there maybe someone here? Or perhaps there is a fb group/platform I could look for that?

2. I would like to find someone who could occasionally take her on walks - I know about petsitting24.ch, but maybe there is another way to find a walker?

3. I am looking for puppy classes (and eventually other type of group training) that is either in Bern or within comfortable reach by public transport. I am only interested in positive reinforcement.

4. Is there something else that might be useful?

Any advice/ideas would be highly appreciated

Hi there!

Welcome to the forum & Bern.

I don't have a dog, but love dogs and am always happy to help with a walk now and then ... but since I commute a long distance and am often traveling, I am not the most reliable walker.

There are a few Facebook groups called:

Neu in Bern

Bern Expats

Expats in Bern

Also, the best place to meet other English speaking expats is at the two Irish pubs in town, McCarthy's and Old City Irish Pub. I'm sure if you bring your pup there, you will make friends in no time.

Best wishes, Bern is a lovely city.

Hey Dale

Just bumped into your post while searching for advice for a dogsitter

Have you had some luck?

Also feeling similarly at times - it's tough with a puppy!

I live near Breiterain in Obstberg and have a 5.5 months old puppy.

Would be cool to meet up and see how they get along if you want?

We usually go to Dahlholzli, or down by the river.

Looking forward to hearing from you and in the meantime all the best for this Chritmas break, Barbara
