RIP, Dolly Parton. Not only extremely talented but also a decent and kind-hearted person.

Knew her as a name because, though maybe surprising to outsiders, Dolly Parton was always at least respected by metalheads and rockers, hadn’t heard her music before this afternoon though, not bad at all!

Then read her biography and philanthropy and am genuinely sad there aren’t many more like her in the world.

Bluegrass was not my favourite C&W style, although I did like Vince Gill’s “I Still Believe in You.” Mine was more Mavericks, Dwight Yoakam (Guitars, Cadillacs), Restless Heart, George Strait (All My Exes Live in Texas), Clint Black (Killin’ Time), and the diaspora from the Eagles. But she brought all the genres together with her strong but incredibly nimble sweet voice.

The running theme I hear about her was how down to earth and gracious she was to everyone. When she came to studios for interviews and promos she was polite and had time for everyone, including the junior studio staff which can often come in for pretty bad treatment from big names.

I asked my teenage son if he knew which famous person was in the newspapers today as they had died.

He replied “Tim Curry”.

He had no idea who Dolly Parton was but knew of Tim Curry, who died aged 80 today,bad the actor in the first two IT films.

I was taken to see the Rocky Horror Show in London as a teenager and sadly hated it, don’t like the film version either :frowning_face_with_open_mouth:
