We are a young married couple, both from EU with permit C. No kids yet.
We both work uninterrupted for Swiss banks the last 8 years.
We live since 8 years in Switzerland and want to both apply for citizenship in 2 years.
Our German level is B1 (we hold the Telc B1 certificate).
I am reading that Dübendorf has more strict rules compared to other ZH Gemeinden.
Anyone having experience with the process in Dübendorf and especially the interview, as we both comply with the rest of the requirements?
In case Dubendorf makes it more difficult (reading about multiple interviews instead of one in other cases), we would consider moving to an other Gemeinde.
Any tips for "easy going" Gemeinden in Zurich would be highly appreciated. Thank you!
By Zürich city I meant Gemeinde Zürich/ZH, if you meant Kreis it does not make a difference, it all belongs to the city of Zürich.
No direct experiences myself but I know that the process is particularly efficient and expedited in Zürich city, assuming all formal and material requirements are met.
I have read all the official documents and I know the requirements are same in all Gemeinden in Zurich. But it is always up to the Gemeinde and those who perform the interviews to make the decision and make the interview process more strict.
Hello, no i haven't but i don't think it is appropriate to ask something like this. It's like calling the teacher before the test asking how difficult it's going to be.
Maybe you should have asked this before you moved?
It's not just about the difficulty of the interviews, but each Gemeinde has it's own residency time requirements. You may only be 2 years away away from the federal requirements, but you have re-set the "Gemeinde Clock" by moving. How long residency does Dübendorf require? You need to look for somewhere with 2 years if you move again.
I think in general, the bigger and more international the town/city, the more reasonable the process will be. Zürich/Geneva/Basel are not going to ask you to name the local farmer’s prize cow or how many litres of milk it produces a month
Yeah things can go wrong but if you do the right things and not in the next two years but generally speaking, you should be fine. Kanton Zurich changed the process but it does not mean faster but it prevents individuals to derail the process with stupid or tricky questions. You have the chance to take the Kenntnissetest and as you have B1 you should not worry about German. If you are integrated you should not worry at all. Trust the process. For every person we know, including family and ourselves, who were integrated, the process was a walk in the park...for some longer for some shorter
The magic date is actually Jan 2018. That's when the new Federal citizenship law came into force.
To prepare for the interview, most bigger communes from the canton Zurich published a "Informationsbroschüre Grundkenntnisse". In it you should find the name of the prized cow and how much milk she gives per month (For the City of Zurich it is Schneeglöggli, from the Höngger Farmer Willi-Bosshard. She alone fills the Milchautomat . You really have to know that, even in the City of Zurich ).
