Eating horses ( Australia )

Google Image search reveals the answer:

Welfare, husbandry and slaughter methods are far more important for me than the name of the animal. I agree that it seems daft to eat some animals that we might consider as 'pets' and not others- but few of us here could eat cat or dog- and personally I won't eat horse either.

I've met two people here in the Alps that eat dog meat, they butcher it themselves and say it is good, they like it and with the rest of the dog they make sausages. They are always looking for a good dog no one wants.

I see! And that being a native Alps inhabitant, I presume?

Hi

It's not quite common to eat horse in Switzerland but sometimes you can find a butchery especially for horses. In Oerlikon is on of these.

Due to the fact that my daddy was a butcher in Australia, I can confirm that Aussies eat horse too not more or less than here.

Despite I eat only meat 2-3 times a year, it must be premium beef or even horse. The meat from horses a rich in iron and the task is smart sweet, yam!

Sorry, just saw this post from March.

Is there any evidence to back that up? My understanding is that (and this isn't exclusive to the UK) that if you advertise "Cod and chips" or "Haddock and chips" they are required by law to sell you that particular fish.

If they were to advertise it only as "Fish and chips" then of course they could serve up anything with fins but I've never seen " Fish and chips" on any chippy menu.

I can imagine if they were slipping shark into the fryers without disclosing it there would be uproar among pregnant women because you are advised to eat very little of such types of fish when you are expecting.
