Well, domestic heat pumps use somewhere between just under 1kw/h to 2kw/h depending on how much work needs to be done - i.e. how cold, how big the area to be heated, how insulated, etc.

If you have a modern electricity meter, turn the heat pump on and see the difference in the instant consumption rate. You can do this even with an old-fashioned disk meter with some patience ![]()
Assuming an optimistic scenario (not too cold, well insulated small house, etc) with this device you may be able to power the heat pump for a few hours. In a pessimistic scenario, you will be able to run your heat pump for less than you can run the raclette oven.
The use that you can get from this battery for running the heat pump is minimal. If it’s so cold outside that you need to fork out 1.7k to to run your heating, 2kw stored won’t last enough.
And that’s not even considering all the wiring difficulties, and the additional cost that may bring
This is a lot longer than the time the battery pack will provide power to run the heat pump.

It had a standby generator that automatically started up in the event of a power failure.
So one night we had a power cut and the generator worked fine until the police dragged me out of bed in the middle of the night to turn it off due to noise complaints.

But for running a tumble dryer.... even if you are up the mountain and soaking wet, there are better solutions to dry your clothes...
LOL - I would have expected that in Switzerland, not in the UK. Never had challenges when we did DR tests (DC near birmingham); but then again, we powered up the generators only for a few minutes to ensure everything failed over properly.
The small 1-5kW generators (usually petrol) are incredibly quiet. The 3kW, I can run on the balcony of the first floor (or potentially loft), and you would struggle to hear it from the road.
They are typically used in villages at markets, where the stall has fish/meat and needs electricity.
There are a lot of videos on YouTube on Ecoflow portable batteries; looks like a good solution for saving solar if you want set something up that doesn’t cost '000 and can move when you do. As for being a Chinese product, sure it is; but going to talk to a German and Swiss company that seem to do something similar that I hope aren’t just rebadging Chinese goods. Anybody any experiences in this field?
Heatpump usually have 400v 3phase.
You need a lot more than a 1600W portable battery for that.
