Good quality boxes aren’t cheap - and the costs will soon mount up if you need a lot but UTZ Euroboxes are strong.
You just need to find someone who will give you a good deal.
Digitec
Obviously I wouldn’t get them from Digitec - that’s just a link to give you an idea of what they are.
If you can find a size you need from those it will be much, much cheaper: https://www.ikea.com/ch/de/cat/samla-serie-12553/
Also, if you have ikea on German side anywhere closer, they are cheaper there.
Ikea shelves in my garages!
Tom
still 40% cheaper than Jumbo! and cheaper than buying 50x from the manufacturer directly.
I've got a few of those. Most of them are broken.
That fits into the criteria of what Phil didn't want.
The smallest sizes are OK as the plastic thickness is the same whatever the size.
You linked 90l version, he 60l one...
but the 40% discount was based on the price of the 60L one...
exactly. that looks like what my wife bought. they're extremely brittle/fragile. actually they are worse than cardboard, since cardboard can absorb shocks.
price from digitec is the best i found after a quick google. i'll see if i can find something better, otherwise i will go with them.
It seems this was not their first rodeo. i tried to order 18 boxes laughing to myself thinking of what that delivery would look like. then the website told me i can only order 6 at a time or get myself down to OBI to pick it up in person. even buying in lots of 6, the effective price is 20.61 so still slightly cheaper than digitec.
now i have to figure out how many i can fit into a smallish car!
Similar was my experience. I did not have these ones but have 4-5 different types of Rotho and some from Coop bau Hobby, can't remember the brand name, i.e. lots of boxes. Later are still OK but are newer.
Many of Rotho ones have sustained some damage and they've just been in the basement. The worse part is that I mostly have ones with properly closing lids and I found silverfish in 4-5 of the boxes :S
My cardboard boxes have had longer shelf life
Migros Do It and Garden has 40% off the UTZ boxes until 5.2.2024.
For example:
60 x 40 x 32 is 20.95 instead of 34.95. Lids are sold separately.
Just dealt with a rodent in the garage who was clearly very hungry and chewed on all sorts of items. One was my Swiss Military issued ear protectors. I always had open storage bins on shelves but now have transferred everything to bins with lids. I bought sturdy pails with lids at Migros which were very reasonable and will keep the rodents out-hopefully.
In the past I have had bins from Rotho and Ikea. I like clear bins with lids but you can also make labels.
