EF Call for Help - Work experience for young people

Hello EF.

Due to the changing work environment with Covid and so much home-based working, its getting harder to find work experience for young people.

As always, it's not so much 'what you know' as 'who you know'.

If you/your employer is offering 'schnupperlerhrer' or 'Lehrer' positions in and around Zurich, I would love to network with you.

To preserve confidentiality, best to handle it via PM but if you are happy to list open positions or contacts that would be great too.

My son who is 14 is particularly good in Maths, 100% fluent in English and strong in German. he is looking for a 'schnupperlehrer' in any office, maths, accounting, banking, or It related job. Right now, just about anything!

Any work experience offers would be greatly appreciated. He's a fairly quiet , organised kid, can be shy in new situations (hence why we need to push this for him) and will benefit from as much work experience as possible to get him into his comfort zone with the working world....

Please do PM me if you can offer any sort of work experience - even just a few hours will make a huge difference!

I cant give you a direct offer but look into the smaller/regional banks in your area.

Canton of Zurich has a list of options. For KV Bank, Basisgrundbildung.

They list Bank Thalwil, Bank Zimmerberg, Raiffeisenbank Thalwil. Of course for Zurich there are more offers. https://berufswahl.zh.ch/schnuppern-...iceships=false

Prepare and work on phone calls with him. Maybe ask if a parent of someone in his class or one of your coworkers can take his moke calls. It needs to be someone he doesnt know. This role play will help.

Or prepare a one pager with schoolmarks/CV and walk into these to ask for a Schnupperlehre in person.

It takes some getting used to so maybe start with a shop, maybe a hairdresser or Detailhandel. Or a garden center. Maybe something he is not too keen on but could see himself doing for two/tvree days. It also helps to know ehat you dont want.

You can coach him but he needs to show initiative
