Egg whites in Switzerland?

That's what he's looking for.

Interesting, they also sell yolks (useful for mayonnaise, ice cream and sauces)

Tom

Yes, and also whole eggs the same way. I have not purchased them, so can't say if they are good or not. We don't eat a lot of eggs.

Cracking eggs is a lengthy process? You've got to be kidding.

Seriously. The whole convenience food thing is getting out of control. Cracking and separating your eggs takes less than 30 seconds. Unless you are eating the whole dozen. You can also do it the night before.

The problem is not cracking and separating, it's the waste of the unused yolks. (or whites, if you only need the yolks).

Well, here is a solution (as I mentioned before actually) which should work as well for the whites as the yolks:

1. Take some time one day a week (or every couple of weeks) to separate eggs.

2. Follow instructions on this page.

There is explanation on the page as well regarding what is needed to freeze yolks or whole eggs as opposed to just the whites.

I imagine you can take what you need out of the freezer before bed each night to be ready (thawed or partially thawed) for what you need the next day.

That's not what our friend Holly said the problem was. For him it's time.

Why not just eat the whole egg? The yolk is very nutritous in fact much more nutritious than the whites. If it is because of the cholestrol thing that has recently been shown to be incorrect, they type found in yolks is not the type that contributes to heart disease.

That has already been explained here

I buy these from leshop regularly - I bake regularly, using more whites than yolks, and I find it very wasteful to bin a load of yolks when making meringue etc (or on the occasion I make custards, to bin a load of whites).

Our local farmer has a cracking daughter.

There is an online Webshop which sells eggwhite (powder):

it is in German (eggwhite in German is "Eiklar"): www.eiklar.ch

You can buy one Kilogramme (which is worth 249 egg whites) and costs 49 swiss francs.

Frank, is that you?

For anyone else looking (found this thread while searching for egg whites), LeShop does not seem to carry them anymore but I found them in online sport shops ( example )

Can't help but wonder were all the yolks have gone.

Custard.

Mayonnaise.
