The post to which I was replying used the term as if to suggest that any or all EM radiation would be 'absorbed' and cause heating, which is not the case. The rest of the post was based on this incorrect assumption.
My first oscillocsope I had as a kid was an ancient model that had done many years being mistreated by kids in the science class of a school before coming my way by way of a car boot sale. It was an all analogue cathode ray device made by Philips and with lots of bakelite knobs and buttons with somewhat cryptic labelling. It was very difficult to get it to trigger properly to any signal and it was probably hugely innaccurate.
But hey, I was probably about the only kid in my class with a real oscilloscope.
I remember discovering that I could pick up 50 Hz by attaching the measurment probe to virtually any object, or even just holding it up in the air. At the time I believed that was evidence of "electro smog" and only later realized it was largely an artefact of the device's own power supply.
More so, it would appear that some people who get stressed out about EMF emissions, vaccinations and so on and other unproven (or miniscule) health risks are also those whose lifestyles include absolutely proven health risks such as smoking, taking little or no exercise, or drinking too much.
Maybe you should be more concerned with the poisons that are present in everyday house dust

Here's a list of some dust meters. Wondering whether its worth it to buy
You are missing the point. The safety regulations concerning the microwave frequencies relate to any possible heating effect. School physics tells you that heat is Involved in almost any (all?) energy transformation pathway. The radiation needs to interact to have an effect (If it is absorbed all the energy is taken up by the assorbing body). The current discussion is about the nature of that interaction. Whilst I agree that the risks due to EM are probably negligible compared to driving on the roads etc, there are still a lot of unknowns Why ridicule people for their concerns? The science that I know about showed effects of some Em fields on cells in culture but the epidemiology studies on humans show variable correlations and in the end the consensus is that em fields and radiation are not a health concern
