employer binded B permit

Hello together

As a non-EU citizenship, I know that the B permit is employer binded, this means that once work contract is terminated, it might be the time to leave Switzerland.

However, I also heard the news that probably in this case, one may have grace period e.g. 3 months or 6 months depends on canton, so that he/she is allowed to find a new job and benefit from unemployment benefits, is that the real case?

If yes, how would be the chance the the authority grant he/she with extension of residency? (e.g. in the normal case will have 6 months? or it could be very tight/competitive?)

many thanks

How long as the non-EU person been employed in Switzerland? When is the next permit renewal date?

I know of one story here on EF where the non-EU was eligible for RAV, but RAV said the canton needed to renew the permit or they wouldn't pay. The canton said RAV needed to guarantee payment or they wouldn't renew the permit. The person left Switzerland.

ok.thanks. it seems it's indeed canton based.

for my case/example, it is not the reality, but more like query for the info. the person is still legal with legal permit, but just asking the possibility just in case.

There are such a mixture of factors it's hard to say if you can appeal.

It's a really stressful situation (the 'what-if'), but some of us (a lot of us Non-EU's) do get over that hurdle of a 'tied' permit and roll over to an open one....

My spouse has been working for the same employer now for 15 years!

Not bad for something that started as a 'Non-EU L' job....

How did you get an open one ?

Tied B to an open C after 10 years.
