Does anyone have any recommandations for an English speaking psychiatrist in the canton of Vaud that is covered by insurance? I am struggling with chronic insomnia and anxiety and my GP would like me to see somebody.

Sorry to read that you are needing to seek psychiatric care. Finding a psychiatrist that you feel comfortable with and can communicate with is extremely important. I was going to send this in a PM but decided to make it public in case it can help others.
I cannot give a specific recommendation as the psychiatrist I saw at this clinic moved away, but seeing as you live near Lausanne I can recommend the Clinique Les Toises.

It is a modern clinic with a very large and diverse team, and many of the doctors speak English quite well. If you contact them and specify that you'd like someone who understands English (and perhaps also a preference for male/female) I'm sure they would match you with someone.
A quick search of the forum also shows that Vlh22 recommended this clinic on several occasions as well.
