I have a lot (a lot) of Euro coins to spend. Years ago I remember there was a machine at the Cora supermarket outside Mulhouse (Dornach?) that would accept euro coins and print out a credit note for use in the shop.
You can use your euro coins in any supermarket in the eurozone,which has
self service checkouts.
Nobobdy cares , how many coins you will need to pay your purchases.
It's a question of efficiency. I have hundreds of coins worth hundreds of euros. Paying for 200euros worth of stuff at the self service using coins would take forever. The credit slip machine, as I remember would print a ticket in a few minutes if you emptied in a bucket of coins
There's a charity bin in the airport where you can toss them.
Here is the page for "eurocycleur", the machine that takes your coins and gives you the receipt that you can spend in the store.
Click on the tab "une preĢsence nationale" and zoom in to the area close to Basel and you will find the stores where the machine is located.
Good luck lugging all of those coins.
Go to a bank across the border, i'm sure they have money counting machines, just like here, only set up for Euros

Yeah but, like here, they're connected to a current account which is credited... so that doesn't work
