I was planning on taking a small 14l (kids) backpack for essentials with me. Will this be ok or will it cause problems? I'm not planning on going on any of the big rides, but will have to accompany the 5 year old.
Never been to one of these places before. Husband says I won't be allowed to take a bag on the rides, but can't find any info anywhere. Is this true?
Some of the easier rides might allow a small backpack, i've only been in the big attractions and they all had a sufficient storage for your backpack. I had one along also and been in a lot of things but cannot recall a single problem.
You could just ask them.
I need an answer before 6am and they're closed now so I thought you lot would know!
On rides where you can't take a bag, there are lockers/shelves next to the carriages. You pop your bag in the one by where you're sitting.
There are (IIRC) no lockers next to the rides.
Usually just shelves.
Obviously, I wouldn't leave my purse there, or a 1100 CHF iPhone.
They do have lockers at the entrance:

"A limited number of lockers are available, for a small fee, at the Main Entrance."
I was in Europark with 2 small children three months ago. They had two types of lockers: the bigger ones for suitcases and the smaller ones for backpacks. You have to pay some amount each time you open lockes. So it is better if you carry a few essentials in your rucksack, instead of paying each time.
Wear a bumbag for essentials & a bigger bag to put in a locker with rain coats if you need them. Bear in mind if you go on the log rise you'll get wet (can't remember what age limits they have). Love Europapark. The theme hotels are excellent & the toilets are all decorated different which I find highly amusing.
Any ride that is suitable for a 5 year old, you will be able to take your back pack.
I was thinking that on some, a cover comes down to offer a little protection while you're away. But yeah, nothing secure at the rides themselves.
True, but the ride staff control that area and only open the correct cover for the new arrivals.
Thank you all! There was only one ride that I wasn't allowed the bag on (the Arthur ride) and they have lockers at the departure. Scan ticket, opens locker and then when you return you scan your ticket from the other side of the corridor to open the locker and retrieve your bag.
I was just at Europa Park a few weeks ago and they had plenty of storage for bags while on the rides. The roller coasters we went on also had a set of cubbies dedicated to each roller coaster "train". These dedicated cubbies would automatically lock as soon as your train left the station and only unlock once you returned. I found this to be a wonderful peace of mind as I didn't have to worry about a person from the train behind me taking my bags while I was upside down on a roller coaster.
