Experience with ACA & State Dept Federal Credit Union?

We're looking for an easier way to transfer money from our US accounts to Swiss banks (the other direction isn't a problem) - we can't easily transfer money from the US since we're not in the US to verify the transfer.

Our accountant suggested:

https://www.americansabroad.org/aca/...tion-and-faqs/

and

https://www.sdfcu.org/banking-services

Basically, you join ACA, which lobbies for Americans overseas, and then you can open a SDFCU account. The transfer frees are low $20 or $30, much lower than WISE, which takes a % of the money -so a lot if you're transferring a lot.

I like credit unions, have been a member of them before.

However, I just looked up complaints about SDFCU and saw they have crappy customer service. https://www.yelp.com/biz/state-depar...t_by=date_desc

We don't intend to get a mortgage or credit card; we'd just use it as a pass-through account to move money to/from the US. So I think the crappy customer service won't affect us much.

Anyone have experience with SDFCU? Or other suggestions?

Hi!

I have just opened an account at SDFCU. I have called Customer Service twice and received the answers that I needed.

Before moving money there, however, I wanted to learn about other people's experiences with them. Do you now have anything to report?

Thanks

Kevin

Been with em for years. Never a problem. Have never tried phone contact but have often used their online messaging platform which works well and have always received good service in response.
