Is it possible for my spouse (non EU) to come here on a schengen visa and then apply for the residence permit ?

No, you need to apply for a family reunification permit for her and she would need to apply for a Type D visa at her nearest Swiss embassy/consulate to be able to join you here. Having a C permit doesn’t exempt you from following the family reunification rules.
