Family Visa holders-Non European

Hi All,

I need your help. I came here in Zurich on dependent Visa (Family) with my son in Zurich. My wife is working on with software company on L type Visa.

Can you please guide me on below

1. Can i work remotely from Zurich for Indian company

2. if yes, any taxes need to be paid in Switzerland as well

3. if i am eligible to work from Zurich then how many days i can work from here any rules needs to be followed

4. If i am not eligible work remotely then whom to connect to get approval to work from Zurich

Thank you in advance

1. Probably - it depends on the exact nature of your permit

2. You are taxed in Switzerland on your worldwide income. But it's the joint income of you and your wife.

3. As many as you like

Given that your wife has an L permit you have the same so any work would need to be authorised by the cantonal migration office, especially any remote working. Talk to them about whether you could do it or not.

Thank You for your response. In my Visa it has mentioned "raisons families".

Some people are saying it allowed to work remotely and some saying not allowed hence this is confusion.

Anyone has come across the same situation like me then please guide me. I have checked some of the threads but that is from 2011 & 2013 hence no idea about present rules

Thank You for valuable response.

As MF said, go to the migration office and ask. They are the only ones who can give you the answer.

Thank you for your response

Just to be clear, you can either work while physically located in Switzerland, or you can't. It doesn't matter if the work is local or remote.

L permits are subject to authorisation if a Swiss employer can meet certain requirements. Since you want to work remotely only the cantonal migration office can tell you whether you’d be allowed to or not.
