Interesting perspective. Define quality? Are you talking about the quality of the products used?
If so, then I agree completely. It was only until recently that Swiss salons start using OPI products which have been very popular and holds the market share in the US and Asia salons for the longest time. OPI, in my opinion have the best quality nail care stuff around. The Swiss salons tend to use Alessandro which sucks.
Skills wise, it really varies from salon to salon. But the steps for a full pedicure and manicure are the same in every country I've tried in (soak, file, cuticles etc etc) I went through lots of trial and error before finding a really good one. One place I went to, even had the cheek to charge me 90CHF for a pedi and brought out a bag of less than 10 bottles of old polish for me to choose from.
You'll be hard pressed to find reasonable prices (ie value for money) here in Switzerland, especially Zürich so it really isnt fair to compare with Swiss prices with the ones in Asia or US.
Products aside, the steps are the same everywhere, so no disagreement. Perhaps unfairly, one expects that for 60+, the 'professionals with training' will bother to actually properly follow the steps. Optimism. Anyway, as far as prices go, I would not dream to compare SZ with any reasonable price bands, but I do expect some sort of value for money balance. Again, optimism. Although as I write, some business ideas come to mind as to things or services to import for expats in SZ...
Aha, I did try Natalia Santini today (see contact details above) & she is absolutely fine. Only manicure though, no pedi this time, but she does a decent job for a very fair price I think..
I tried schminkbar just now but as you said fully booked. I need an urgent gel or acrylic manicure for tomorrow - any place that I can turn to for last minute appointments or just walk in?
thanks for the links NathalieDM and Shrh. It's still frustrating though that manicures and pedicures are so inaccessible here. i am from new york, and in the city you have a few manicure shops almost at every block ! you just walk in, sit down and 30 minutes later - and for only like chf 10 - 20, you're done !
For some reason, I picked this place for my pedicure, and it was great! Lucia did a very thorough job and now my feet look very pretty Her English was only okay, but my German is only okay, so we got along just fine. 65 CHF seemed like a pretty reasonable price, too, for the quality.
