Judging by OP’s original post, it seems to me that he/she was hoping the insurance company would buy him a new phone. He/she doesn’t strike me as someone who’s into doing their own repairs.
Was the place recommended by the insurance company?
Next time ask what a repair will cost. You have yourself to blame!!
A 250 CHF phone is usually not worth having someone spend time on repairing - other than yourself.
Either get an iPhone Pro next time, to make the insurance worth it - or just get a new phone outright (and pay for it yourself).
BTW: Apple does the repairs themselves.
Other (I believe all other) phone manufacturers have contracted this out to 3rd-parties, because they don’t see themselves in the business of keeping phones working, just selling them.
You normally pay some excess on insurance, so I wonder even bothering asking the insurance at all if the excess is high. It wouldn’t surprise me if it was 250 Fr. or more.
Personally I cannot begin to imagine why anyone would think that insurance on an item that only costs chf250 is ever going to worthwhile.
