If you like Feldschlösschen, thats ok. But its not a good beer.
The people who drink Feldschlösschen do it it because its beer and the want
to drink beer. They dont choose it over other brands, they dont care about
brands. People who pay attention to what their beer actually tastes like and
what sorts of beer exist usuall dont drink FS.
As a native it pains me that Feldschlösschen and Cardinal are the poster
childs (i.e. most sold/advertised) for swiss beers.
Rodica, I think Belgianmum blew the secret a few posts ago i'm afraid!
I s'pose I should google before I type, but I always saw Feldschossen, 1664, Cardinal etc those type of 'beers' more as lagers.... Maybe higher up the scale than Carling, and I guess Coop Prix Garuntee (or tesco value in UK!!!) which I generally see as the worst quality.
To me, generally all lager is pretty much the same, you have to drink it super cold otherwise it's a real effort to drink. Or, you add lemonade (which contrary to the rest of you, I enjoy from time to time)
Leffe, Duval, Orval, Chimay, Kwak etc those are what I see as 'beer', and they all have different tastes. About recommending a Swiss 'beer', I drink BFM, but I'd much rather drink something Belgian, (which of course I buy in France).
I like the way you put that Grumpygrapefruit. I, who hates warm beer, like to enjoy a nice English/Welsh ale from time to time, to explore some flavours, and try local from the regions I'm in, much like I do with red wine.
Anyway, OP made me laugh - I thought he'd swallowed a slug or something!!
