FIFA World Cup 2026

I don’t see the Iranian football tram doing anything wrong.

Personally, i think the iranian team, by doing this, are showing honor and dignity in a world event. An event that is meant towards world unity. Personally, I wish DJT had real cohones. Clearly the mexicans do …

The US imposed an entry ban to non-US citizens who have been in Congo, Uganda and South Sudan in the last 21 days. It’s a given that little to no fans from Congo will be able to enter the US.

FIFA is now under investigation over ticket prices. Personally, I think it was about time.

We also need a Swiss investigation to determine if they are complying with their tax free status. All those billions ripped off from US consumers need to be taxed heavily.

hear! hear!

TBH, I’d like a popular vote on using SRG (mom of RTS, SRF, RSI) buying broadcasting rights for fifa world cup.

I’d say private companies can do this, no need to use tax money (SERAFE) to pay for this.

You will lose this vote.

I used to go to a gym at a hotel in the UK - I cycled there.

Others would drive around the (large) car park looking for a spot closer to the entrance.

Many hotels in the US have stairs that can only be used in an emergency. You can’t go up from the lobby with them and if you descend from an upper floor, you end up in a semi-basement fire exit door far from the lobby and on a lower level.

Head of DHS Mullen plans to withdraw Customs from airports in blue states

Daft idea during World Cup

So they will privatize may be? Other airports do.

But until then, there will be lawsuits till who knows when. I dont think the govt will allow such moves, since these airports serve the US pubilc all across the US.

Chicago is a major hub for United, American and South West. The airline companies will have a cow over this.

As a side note, this information is a few days old; ie. He has been thinking about this loudly for a few days now. Nothing has been done. Airlines will not go for it. They are already in binds with high oil prices and cant really raise prices on normal travellers who are already cash strapped.

This is not assault on a blue state. This is assault on american people.

But this will accomplish what, exactly?

All these ‘labelling’, classifying and tier creating needs to STOP in my opinion. The US has federal laws that strictly prohibit classification, discrimination, etc. with the support of the US constitution.

Not to mention the 1st and various other ammendment rights enshrined in the US constitution.

The approach of ‘do now, ask for forgiveness later’ has run it’s course. Cases in point being the Iran war, WH ballroom, Kennedy performance ccenter, the ‘pool’ in washington DC, the arch d’Trump, ICE, immigration deportation efforts, 250 year celebration at the WH, golf course in washington DC, etc. etc. etc.

This is just another attempt at ‘distraction’.

It seems the US Borders and Customs are being dutiful in their jobs. Mr. Embolo did not fly to the US along the Swiss football team.

Last year Mr. Embolo got a conditional fine with a probationary period of 2 years.

If the US get serious about police records to authorize entry, this is going to get fun. Footballers are no saints: serious speeding, violence here and there, alimony claims, tabloids will have a field day and several teams will not be complete.

From media reports

A British Columbia non-profit that supports people with spinal injuries was forced to cancel a raffle for a pair of World Cup tickets after receiving a nine-page letter from FIFA’s lawyers, accusing it of trademark infringement and ticket rule violations.

Chris McBride, executive director of Spinal Cord Injury BC, said a staff member purchased two tickets on behalf of the organization through regular channels for the June 21 game between New Zealand and Egypt at Vancouver’s BC Place, with a face value of about $500 each.

“We just thought this would be a fun way to not only make a little bit of money … but also as a fun way for our supporter base to have low-barrier access to tickets to a game that they probably wouldn’t be able to afford otherwise,” McBride said.

He estimates they’d raised about $2,300 in raffle tickets when the letter from the Toronto-based law firm Lipkus Law, representing soccer’s world governing body, arrived on May 11 informing the charity that it was violating trademark rules and ticketing policy.

That’s because he filled in ESTA before he had this conviction and answered that he was never convicted which is obviously not true anymore. He has applied for a visa today and hopefully will travel to the USA soon.

Hm, I wonder if US Border Control will refuse visas to certain players to weaken some teams’ chances of getting through the tournament.

I doubt it. Without hiring some foreigner to tell them who should be banned they would have no clue. And of course they could still play in Canada and Mexico.

The FIFA grift goes on. You can’t take your own drinks into the stadiums because… reasons…

Attendees of the World Cup will not be allowed to carry reusable water bottles into venues due to safety concerns, FIFA said on Thursday, following a last-minute change to its Stadium Code ‌of Conduct.
The governing body, which had earlier permitted empty, transparent, reusable plastic bottles inside stadiums, said the updated code - effective from Tuesday - now prohibits them.
