Any suggestions of which pro?
Don't go with the big ones, they will charge a fortune, are not very intelligent when it comes to a standard Swiss (simple) tax declaration and in any case they feel themselves well above this !
Find a small fiduciaire company in your area, it will pay dividends if you have it done and submitted by them, at least for first time after which it isn't really so complicated for a salary person with or without property.
One year I added a 0 to one of my bank accounts. They got back asking for an explanation for the sudden increase in wealth. I explained the error, including a copy of the corresponding bank statement (since a few years in VD we don't need to provide documents such as bank statements) and they promptly corrected my declaration.
That works if you ask them but they don't check all of the declarations unless there is a significant difference between years, which in your case there obviously way.
For a simple VD tax declaration, it will cost around Chf 150-200.-- it will make your life very easy and the subsequent years you just copy it and add the new figures.
An accountant may very well find things that you could deduct but you didn't know, so sometimes a meager Chf 200.-- could be considered well spent
They asked for proof of everything in Geneva, even my FTX crypto holdings (this year will probably ask where my cryptos went ) . All real estate, bank debt etc... I've done it all. Hopefully this year all of that will be saved in the software so I don't have to do it again.
Unless I am a real mug, it's not like there are millions of deduction you can take that are hidden and you just don't know about... They ask in their questionnaires about most of the stuff anyways and will apply the deduction in the software themselves. How many kids, deduction for meals at work etc..
Just get cracking on their website and play around with the software.
