Football pitch wanted (for rent)

Hi all,

Unexpected problem here - finding a place to play football with colleagues 1-2 times a week in the evenings. Whereas in the UK finding a pitch is never a problem, I have hit the wall in Switzerland.

I have approached more than 5 clubs (most of them having 6+ fields) and each of them rejected the possibility to rent...one of them even forwarded my request to the gemeinde since they manage the spaces 😁.

Any size (from cage to full size pitch) and any type (grass, astro, asphalt even) would work.

Does anyone know where could fent a pitch around here?

Surely it cannot be that difficult as it looks so far.

Areas of interest in order of priority:

Rotkreuz

Cham

Zug

Baar

Horgen/Thalwil

Many thanks

I found one near Rotkreuz , grass, full size with a two minute search and yes, you can rent it, even if you don’t live in the Gemeinde.

I love the English forum! I will check them out it hopefully works, thanks.

PS which keywords did you use? Ideally for finding a few more options.

Thanks!!

I didn't. I just looked at the smaller villages around Rotkreuz.

Friends of my kids play for teams in the area - for Rotkreuz junior teams and Root.

e.g. try Rotkreuz Sportanlage reservieren mieten

It’s a bit more convoluted for Cham. A search comes up with this document https://www.cham.ch/_docn/1289393/be…lagen_Cham.pdf to show you what’s available, but I can’t find a way of booking online. Probably best to contact the Gemeinde direct.

That's probably the wrong question, renting would guarantee exclusive use 24/7.

Mind, what follows are assumptions but I'm fairly certain this is roughly how it works:

The fields are public grounds, the aim is to make them available to the largest number or people. Thus time slots may have been defined, they will be assigned to certain groups, perhaps for a small fee or entirely for free. Your group might be assigned the slot for Tuesday, 6pm until 10pm which might be when the nightly quiet time starts and the field can't be used. Alternatively, the system may be "first come first serve" outside of the times reserved for the clubs. Of course you are to leave the field clean, just like you encountered it, and you may get space assigned in the attached depot so you can store your stuff.

Founding a Verein to that end may be useful, perhaps even a requirement.

TLDR: You don't want to rent, you want to be assigned one or more time slots.

That one sounds great as this is walking distance to the office.

I read that a few times and it reads like we can just walk in and start playing if there is no club training at the moment? Does that make sense?

The form they have on the website seems more like a one-off.

Yes, you're right. ...zur Verfügung stehen... means 'available to the public'. Although that could still mean that you need to book the space, even if it's not made clear. In any case, wouldn't it be a bit annoying if you turn up and somebody else is already playing?

I'd give them a call to clarify (there's a number on the right). I'd hate to be responsible if you get a fine!

Thanks for explaining, makes a bit more sense now.
Unfortunately, I got a cold rejection exactly from those guys from the Gemeinde that they have no more slots, which sounds a bit disappointing an even unbelievable. Any ideas what can I do?

Thank you.
