Football/ Soccer in Basel

Hi all,

I am moving to Basel at the end of september and am a keen football player, could anyone please give me directions or advice on where i could find a club.

Looking for both competitive and sociable sessions. I have played at country level but looking for any reasonable standard of play.

Hello...Ex Pats

Same quest as Gary, would love to find a social Football/Soccer game to play in Basel. Will Be moving here next month and it would be nice to find one. Thanks for any help on that.

There's a game every Wednesday evening on the soccer pitches in St Jakob for expats and english-speaking people.

Most of the guys there generally work for Novatis or some of the other popular firms.. I will give you the email address of one of the guys when I check my mail shortly.

I played about 3/4 times and really enjoyed it, but am back in the UK now unfortunately.

can you arrange stuff? means suggest a date, time, place and arrange that with basel players, post it in here so that i can pass the info on?

we have an astroturfed, fenced-in, 5-a-side-pitch (size of an handball field) downtown zurich. we play it mostly on sundays and our favourite day is sunday, 12.30-2.30.

id say we should not have more than 10 players, 5 subs. but this we'll sort out then.

further we have pub nearby where you can shed some tears of defeat into your pints after

Count me in on the 5 a side challenge, but keep in mind that some of us on this thread are not even in Basel yet. End of sept. for me.

Played last wednesday with some expats pitch was grass, half size goals and the facilities were excellent, the pitch was well maintained we had a really good game, let me no when you arrive and we can meet up and go along, plus we could play the zurich five aside team there as our home ground and then at there ground. thanks speak soon

cool, sounds good. the prob is, i/we have to rely on "your" support organizing this a bit as we dont have much contacts to basel not to speak about fon numbers etc. so best would be if you/a volunteer can at the next game ask around whos in etc. and drop infos here or simply say its something going on, that all basel players can give feedback on the forum and then i gonna set up an RVSP etc... subba!
