Hey, I've been here a few months and only just found this site.

I'm shocked at the level of professional football here and obviously, as I'm English, I'd be a benefit to any football team. Christian Gross won't let me play for him 'cos I'm a spurs fan.

I'd still love a kickaround in the week, or at the weekend, I'm not too fussed.

Can anyone recommend when & where to meet around Basel?

The fields behind St Jakob are well-maintained and there's usually one or two free.

I had a look on the calendar but didn't see any football meet-ups. Does anyone play regularly and have space for little old me?

Just read this thread as I have just moved to Basel from the UK and would like (need!!) to play whilst here but I can't see any sort of "yeah, we play at X, come along" sort of posts.

Does anyone know of any 5 or 11-a-side games going, please?

Hey Guys, There is a group that gets together on Tuesday evenings (7ish) at St. Jakob. It's pretty informal, but i think they manage to meet on a weekly basis.

I played last Tuesday, and I think they could use a few more regulars.

I moved to Basel four weeks ago (July 2010) and I am interested in playing soccer once/twice a week. I lived in Canada for the past 10 years but am originally from South America (Peru). Ideally I would like to play with English/Spanish speaking players at either a recreational or competitive level. I don’t know anyone in town so any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I couldn’t write a new tread so I hope people still reads this one created over a year ago by “Gary”. Please write back if you know of a team looking for players.

Hey everyone, I'm keen on some footy as well. People still playing and using this forum or what? Got mad skills and all that stuff. Guess i might turn up to st jakobs at some point and see if anyone is playing, a bit hit and miss though.

Can't help Gary, sorry, you're alot better football player than I but if you're or anybody else interested have 3 tickets for Switz vs Wales game on 12 Oct at Basel, we can't make it due to business commitments, tickets have face vale CHF68 but will accept reasonable offers, if you haven't been to the ground, its excellent stadium, Swiss team are well organized but find it hard to score and for wales and Switz its a must win game, good luck in finding ateam that suits your level, cheers, Mike D Zurich
