FREITAG Bags

i walked right into that one.

Considering 10-20mins layoff time from the " Coccinelle bag" post ... perhaps yes ..

Have a great day krlock3 ..

They are expensive, they are cool, they are sturdy, they are spacious.

Do the pros outweigh the cons? If so, buy one. If not, don't buy one.

The choice is literally yours.

Me, I switched from my laptop backpack (which was very inconvenient while getting on & off buses & trams so often) to a Bag of Holding ... I like it.

btw, just be careful getting it into here - courier costs are nasty ... :/

thats the point... females wearing same bags as males.. there is no difference.. do not you think its strange?

if i would be a gay i might get me a Freitag bag..

i would not mind this one

mhm... maybe thank god on your knees you can now buy anything different from borschtsch... potentially.

never liked this one

oh.. now i've seen, you are german.. that explains your knowledge about the borschtsch...

Probably got wet and then the cement became too heavy for the handles. Have you kept the receipt in a safe place?

There's a reason there's a Freitag bag in the New York Museum Of Modern Art, alongside an Audi TT and a Sony Walkman.

They're bombproof. They have amazing capacity and resist almost everything you can throw at them. If you don't understand them, fair enough; I snigger at anyone with the imagination to wear a Louis Vuitton bag and have cosmetic surgery. Same same, but different. I doubt many use a Freitag to flaunt anything, though. They're utilitarian with privileges.

Plus, you can design them yourself. See their site for details. I doubt the 'Indian Cement' bag was a Freitag, though Beware of expensive imitations.

Any clue where to get a decent selection of Crumpler bags in the Zürich area? DataQuest and the Apple Store have virtually nothing.

mhm....i think there was or still is some shop that has nice a selection on display at the niederdorf...but i dunno its name anymore, sorry.

There's a shop on the same street as the Barfüsser Bar, off Hirschenplatz. They regularly have sales on last season's products. I picked up a laptop messenger bag for 50% off.

Secondhand Freitag bags can be had on Ricardo for much less than new.

It was given to me. My mother owns an envoinmentally friendly shop and she's always testing products on me. I''m just dissapointed as it was a pretty good bag! No Worries though!

A different take on bags made from recycled materials, in this case seatbelts and bicycle inner tubes:

Coming back to what BenderRules said I do have to agree that the Swiss fashion sense is somewhat conservative and uniform. I have worked in Fashion in the UK and am still over here and most people here are pretty backwards (not wanting to offend anyone) when it comes to Fashion.

Go to any highly creative city like Berlin or London and you will see the difference.

Even within the Swiss Fashion Industry there are people I meet on a daily basis who have no clue whatsoever. I mention an up and coming brand from the UK and they haven't go the faintest idea of what I'm talking about.

Even most shop owners have no idea of merchandising or colour concepts. To them a Sweater is a Sweater and a Shirt is a Shirt. Hang all of one kind in one corner and all other is another. I am glad if some of them have a working fax machine I can reach em on.

Just my "50 Rappen"...

Regarding the Freitag bags I think the concept is cool and hats off to their marketing but the bag itself isn't that special. But as people have said it's in the eye of the beholder.

i think it depends where youre looking at people. i once came back from nottingham which i find isnt the tres french part of the UK setting up trends. but the people even there were more colourfully dressed even in winter time i was there. when i came back to zurich n i got off tram at bhfstrasse...i thought its a funeral procession going on there: all grey/black/dark coloured dressed masses shoving into HB. but were talking about the finance district leaving for home.

and this clientel isnt wellknown for wearing fuchsia or california blue suits, right?

instead if you dander from limmatplatz over langstrasse to badener strasse...it is different. and the shops there are diverse from city shops too. check out streetfiles or firma and the like and youll find nice clothes in there that are (more) "up to date" (eye of the beholder comes into play again, of course). zurich is the lot smaller, it has the size of camden or soho only. its clear by given facts it cant have the megalopolis amount of different styles that next corner are topped again with the next hot stuff.

and the masses buying any new trend is wayyyyyyyy smaller so shops see turnaround at risk i can imagine stuffing the windows n displays with stuff they cant sell. there are only some small islands doing different. how this works you can see by the size of said streetfiles shop. its a niche clients supplier, unfortunately talli weijl is doing better (yuk)...

They don't have a marketing department: it's not necessary Cool is as cool does...

I love my Freitag bag!

I take it everywhere because of its practical size, expandability, durability and most importantly because it's waterproof... here in Bern it rains all the freaking time and the Freitag bag is the answer.

My camera kit usually travels in the bag but it'll hold a load of groceries in a pinch too. And to think, when I bought it two years ago, I just thought it was cool... now I can't live without it because it's just to darn useful.

And you know this because...?

No brand can do without a Marketing dept. or good P.R. agency nowadays or how do you think a Freitag bag ended up being featured in a recent Hollywood Blockbuster? And I take it product placement in magazines is happening all by itself as well?
