G'day - NZer moving to Lausanne soon

hi,

there are actually some agencies that provide pictures or even floor plans too.

not all are guaranteed to have pictures but some provide an idea of the outside of the building, which to a certain extent, gives you an idea of what it will be like inside. some descriptions also give the date of the building, which can be quite helpful.

i would recommend going straight to the agency website after you've found a flat that interests you. agencies like regie braun ( www.regiebraun.ch ) have a floor plan and you can even put 'furniture' in it to see how it would all fit in!

hope that helps and good luck..

i started looking last week and it's starting to be a pain..

G'day,

I am sure you will enjoy being in Lausanne. There are a lot of English speakers and clubs around that area, plus the lake is great for some summer fun.

welcome to the country.

That's a really nice feature, but I wouldn't recommend investing too much time investigating any one apartment if you need something soon. Too many people apply for each apartment, so your chances of getting the one you most want, unless you're an ideal candidate, are probably not that great (some places can have more than 20 people apply for them in one day). Therefore, if you want to find a place quickly, then you're best bet is to go visit lots, apply for all of those that are at least reasonable, and wait and see. If that's not successful after a while, then you may have to reduce your criteria and apply for even more places. All I can say is good luck!

Well, balls. I had a HUGE post with my experiences, advice etc, then the forum hiccupped for 10 minutes during which time I couldn't access it and it lost the whole thing. I'll get back to do it again later, hopefully.
