General Information about Swiss Tennis

Just to bump this thread for those who need additional info to get the feed.

Hi,

do you have experience with the tennis tournaments in Switzerland? I am member of swiss tennis since april and want to play some tournaments this summer (of course, only if the weather is good enough). How does it work? When are the matches?

Thanks!

How does it work - it is very simple and straightforward.

Let's read site in German, under www.swisstennis.ch you need to go to tournament section "Turnier" and click on search button "Suchen". You can also specify in more searching options "Mehr Suchoptionen" where you can select category, age groups and location and etc.

Just an example: http://www.swisstennis.ch/?rub=47&id...9&result=86456

Provided that you have an active license and your name is under the Swiss tennis, all you need to do is click "Anmeldung" and your player's profile will be forwarded to organizing body automatically. You need to make sure that you enter the tournament within specific registration deadline, right category and show up which otherwise failing it subject to additional conditions and sometimes fees. Click also on red icons inside there to be able to view which players have entered and their current ranking, which tennis balls will be used and additional other info. As soon as the entries list and deadline is complete - few days before actual competition, you will be able to view the "Tableau" or " Gruppenspiel" in case there are less than four participants. Have fun thru to another round!

Hope it helps and enjoy your tennis season.

Hi jacek,

Thanks for the Info. I am already "angemeldet" for a tournament =)

By the way, I was ranked R5. How does this ranking system work? Do I need to win a tournament in order to ascend to R4?

Regards!

Normally you need to beat two R4 players without losing against R5 or alternatively beat three R5 without losing to R5 one. There is more info about it if you dig deep in: http://www.swisstennis.ch/upload/doc...htlinien-d.pdf

For those who enjoy competitive game. Just the reminder about Interclub season coming to an end. There will be plenty of open air tournaments hosted all over Switzerland though. For more info check: http://www.swisstennis.ch/?rub=47&id=100859

Hello All,

I live in Thalwil and am looking for 2 ladies to play Intermediate Level Tennis with in Langnau.

My friend and I play on Mondays at 1pm and would love to change our game from Singles to Doubles.

For those who are not familiar yet, there is new tool for online reservations available. It is called:

www.gotcourts.com

It used to be known previously as www.mytins.ch and available for public courts bookings only. But the former has been replaced with the above one now. Some of the private TC's already started using "GotCourts" system to facilitate smooth online reservations and better time management in their clubs. For example, in case that the weather conditions do not allow use of the facilities (wet and soggy), the club management can use system to block tennis courts until further notice.

Please register online and check this out. There are some other cool features like befriending players and adding your frequented clubs to favourites, searching the courts within predefined perimeters by google maps system and etc. most importantly it supports multilingual environment.

Got Court's launched a trial version of "Sparring Partner" program running thru August 2015 which allows all players, who need to improve their hitting skills and want to play matches, to book their sparring partner at cost CHF35 per hour. Please note that court hire is not included and it must be booked in advance whereas the above fee payable to the sparring partner on the day a training takes place. More information in German can be found below and link to the program is here:

Please don't let this opportunity to pass you by !!! The "Sparring Partner" organized by GotCourts is a great trial version program that not only allows you to find players relative to your level but also to socialize with likeminded individuals. Give it a go! If it reaches good references and thumbs ups to your satisfaction in this trial phase then we all stand a chance to have this unique program officially launched in Switzerland!

Just wanted to bump this thread in preparations for clay season with intention that all tennis enthusiasts will find some interesting info in the opening post. Game, set and match - have a smashing season!

Hi guys, great thread. I'm a tennis coach here in Basel, so if anyone would like any more additional info about tennis in Switzerland and/or in Europe for that matter then pm me. Happy Summer of tennis everyone.

Hello all,

Does anyone happen to know an english speaking tennis coach in the Kloten / Zurich Airport area?

I am an intermediate level player looking to join a club where I can speak english - my german is no good

Shaunmu - I spent a little bit of time in Basel from time to time, not enough to use your sevices regularly i am afraid.

Thanks

What do you do? Commute all that way every day? Your location is Vaud so surely you’d want a tennis coach there.

Wawrinka fought well against Shelton but he couldn’t get over the line against the 6th-seed American in the second round of Basel Open.

Hey everyone,

Stumbled across this topic and thought I’d share something that might be useful. If you’re in Zurich and looking to play tennis, the city actually has a bunch of public clay courts (40 in total) that you can book online: (google: sportamt tennis). Prices are around CHF 15–25 per hour.

Btw. if anyone here is up for a game sometime, feel free to reach out! :tennis:
