Golf in and around Geneva

No I don't. But this is not a discussion about that, this is a discussion about Golf courses in and around Geneva, any tips?

What is it about Switzerland making it what seems to me unwelcoming and difficult to play games? I have a friend who wanted to play in a bridge competition here and although he was a strong player with a good record in Australia which is a far stronger country in bridge than Switzerland, he nonetheless had to jump through hoops.

I'd love to understand what is the underlying philosophy behind the attitude.

Not typical Swiss, you have to have the same in Germany (or the Netherlands I think) before you can play golf (Platzreife) or be able to show your handicap certificate

So, maybe a typical European thing. In Australia we are always such excited little vegemites when people come to visit, although I can't speak for golf, I'd be surprised if it wasn't like bridge which is very welcoming.

Trying my luck as well...will move from Basel to Vaud (Aubonne area) in June 2019. Currently a member of ASGI (independant) so I just turn up at courses and pay the greenfee...

It's much cheaper that way, but harder to find buddies to play with...so if you're looking for a playing partner give me a shout!

(I started playing seriously for the first time in 2018 and got my hcp down to 20, to give an idea of my level)

I'm in Bern happy to meet in the middle.

Did you ever play with the Basel Baggers ??
