As for the local religious celebrations, there’s Allerheiligen (all saints) Nov 1 and Allerseelen (all souls) Nov 2. My guess would be that people have no problems with the celebrations but with the massive commercialisation.
Domestically the reformation was driven by Zwingli in Zürich and Calvin in Geneva, as well as Erasmus of Rotterdam in Basel. Geneva (along with the rest of the country) became pass-through and refuge for lots of French huguenots. The differences between the reformed and catholic cantons (NW, LU, ZG, UR, SZ) had effects on the formation of federated Switzerland in the early 19th century, and still shape contemporary politics as the catholics are considerably more conservative.
