I believe that the minimum excess is normally Sfr300 and for me that works out at Sfr238 pcm if I take a Sfr1500 excess that is reduced to Sfr175 pcm
so 238 – 175 = 63 and 63 x 12 months = 756 and on this masterpiece of calculation, If im not ill I will save Sfr 756 but if im ill it will cost me Sfr 444 extra.
(there is a bit more to this calculation regarding the 10% you would pay on the Sfr 756 part of the Sfr 1500 excess but I wont bore you with that)
Its your choice but I take the gamble and hopefully have 700 odd francs extra to spend in the bar (I hope all this drinking doesnt make me sick).
I am not sure how things work out for people that quote insurance rates above, but for a mid-twenties guy with no known medical problems the least expenive option on comparis (with a 1000 deductible) seems to be CHF 390!!! That does not include accident cover or dental. Is that because I have no insurance in CH right now?
Also, why must a person pay in advance for treatment. For instance HMO plans would mean that if you go to a participating provider, they would accept the insurance and bill you only for your part, right?
Never had to pay in advance, they normally want to see if you are insured first, my doctor takes up to 6 months to bill me.
390 francs a month must be the all singing and dancing full private. I should have mentioned my calculation was for me half private (i cant do the under 40 deal). I would never complain about the health system here I just had a problem solved here in 2 months start to finish, and I have known people in England wait 2 years to see the specialist for the same problem.
An interesting point to remember when you are on unemployment benefits: There is a difference between sickness insurance, and income protection insurance.
For example, if you are insured, and you suddenly need some serious surgery, your income is covered whilst you are in hospital, courtesy of your employers insurance. Same with an accidents.
However, once you go onto unemployment benefits, you are only covered for accidents. After you accumulate 30 sick days, you no longer receive unemployment benefits for days you are ill, unless you have your own insurance.
You can request a premium quote from your previous companies insurer, and if you accept it within the first month of being unemployed, they must accept you regardless of your health status. If you wait longer, that and any other company you request insurance from can demand a pre-policy medical.
Well your question is quite broad, so I'm not sure what you'd like to hear. If you'd like someone to figure out everything for you then you are probably best using the services of an insurance consultant. Jenny would be one such person.
so many questions. I'm not working nor on unemployment. My husband work for the Post.
we wanted to start checking prices b/c he's paying 320 a month for me. But to be honest, neither one of us is very good at understanding this.
I'm from Canada, only been here a year and he's 26 from Chur and has no understanding of his system! lame, I know....
is there a recommended "agent" on board? we're both heathly, however he was in a car accident years ago and has a bad back. We are with OKK right now, but I gotta say, these bills we get are ridiculous! so I think he needs some kind of chiropractic coverage added or something.
