what about Peek & Cloppenburg at Sihl City, they sell all kind of dresses, for good prices I've succeeded there many times. Wish you a great time at the Opera. Me and my husband are looking forward to go to the Opera one time as well.
It makes no difference except that I am jealous - I would've loved to go to the premiere . Great news about your bargain, Nanners. Hope you have a memorable evening!
From performers point of view ( literally) ....you dont want anything too glitzy looking up at you nor do you want lots of leg or underwear showing , so although LBD is favourable any dark colour is ok , as is any kind of suit, or jacket /trouser combination.
be casually smart , be comfortable (most important ) and enjoy the performance. your reaction at the end will carry more importance to the cast than whether you were kitted out at matalan or knightsbridge.
If you gonna see Tristan and Isolde ,by Wagner ,go Funeral .Magic Flute by Mozart it`s rather a happy occasion .Point is you dress different for different operas or composers.I am sure there is a dress code recommendations some where
I have been to the Opera here twice and I did find it a little chilly. You may want to consider a shawl or something you can use while sitting if you dress is not very warm.
I'm reminded of the time when I was in the good seats at the Sydney Opera House. An elderly couple sat in front of me, the lady dressed quite well, hair done, etc. The husband was obviously registering his displeasure at being there rather than having a few pints with his mates. He was attired in a bright orange velour track suit. Yes, the missus wasn't pleased.
