The actual problem is that lots of speakers and headphones can't reproduce signals above 10khz very well, so if you want to check your hearing you need to be sure that they do (I have sound meters that can test them).
I have a high frequency noise caused by the chimney of the heating system. Got used to it and it only screams during the coldest nights anyway.
You could possibly have a family of rats or mice in the walls. They make a high pitched noise in the mating season so you seem to be particularly receptive
Hi Susan57
How're things going? Any relief yet?
The lovely landlords delivered a new Food Center today and we only arrived home a few minutes ago... my ears have become so sensitive to high frequency, I am afraid to stop speaking and just listen....
What a strange experience...
Give me some time and I’ll report back.
I've googled but failed. What, in this context, is a Food Center?
Large/luxurious refrigerator.
In Nottingham, they used to put these "Teenagers Frequency" devices to keep teenagers out of certain areas... never worked on me, though...Could have been to do with the fact I've always been an old fart!
