It's up to the employer to do due diligence when interviewing and hiring an employee, as well as to ensure that you are paying your employee correctly. (Many use a service to figure out proper taxes, social contributions, holiday pay, etc. Quitt.ch is one such service.)
I've not used Homeservice, but have used the sister platform Petsitting. I browse through in a potential sitter's dossier to determine if it is worth contacting that person, and then the rest is on me - interviewing, background checks, ensuring employment eligibility, hiring, employment contract, management of the employee, etc.
I am usually looking for someone more qualified/skilled than the average person who wants a casual job, so I have only found one person who met my needs in all these years. But thats not a criticism of the '24' platform, rather that it is perhaps not the place to find the specific niche I need. Plenty of people on EF, with needs perhaps different than mine, report finding their sitter via '24'.
I imagine it might be easier when looking for cleaning help than petsitting, simply because of the job needing done.
I maintain my membership because it is quite inexpensive - and when searching for a good employee with niche skills one should leave no stone unturned. I consider my membership money well spent.
I find it a plus to be able to choose by postcode and language.
membership fee: I did not upgrade immediately and received after a week or two an offer for 1/3 discount.
