how do you refer 'Curvy' women

Well, I was polite...

It's all subjective.

I have curves, they just happen to be small ones.

And, that's part of the reason for euphemisms.

Sure, you can call her fat, you can call me fat, it's plenty true. BUT when I call myself fat, you know how many times I get scolded for being "down on myself"? Almost every time.

So, we come up with euphemisms, not so much to make ourselves feel better but to describe ourselves to others so that they don't act all like we're supposed to not acknowledge that we're FAT (whether or not we're happy within ourselves) - which sends the signal that using that word can only mean that we can't possibly be okay with how we look. Does that make sense to you?

There's lots of people in between. We just don't pay attention to them. We are drawn to extremes. The media portrays extremes. And people like to think they can judge health by body shape and size. Often you can't.

For curvy, I think of actresses from the 1950's - Marilyn Monroe, and Jane Russell.

Yes it does.

If someone's fat and say: I am fat, the person next to him/her will right away jump into the: oh! Noooo, you are not fat , you may have a bit too much but come on, bla bla bla .. I know, I do the same.

It's a great example of the disillusion of the topic by using common google searches. When people with body images search for terms to justify whatever idea they have in their mind, they will click on the most pleasing results, google's algorithms put such results at the top.

Indeed google search algorithm is a valid source of the general opinion of most people

You didn't answer my question.

Regardless of the photos I selected to post, NONE of the photos I had to choose from as result of google image search for "curvy woman" looked like the one you posted.

So, what DID you search for that yielded that result?

It wasn't from a search, it was a from a social news site. The person has many curves ergo I would define her as curvy. Very topical IMO

Would be interesting to know which. Do you have a link?

Besides, @Mirfield has already admitted it was him taking a nap so what's newsworthy about that?

it was from reddit, and it was a picture post commenting on one's inability to distinguish the position of sleep: On the side? On the stomach? On the back?

Lack of distinguishing ability due to overwhelming curviness.

Still no link.

is it relevant? I can hunt down the link, but it was upvoted this morning, so probably deep down in the pages by now.

What is the point that's trying to be made here?

Edit: the source address of the picture is still the same as was posted on the initial site. Imgur, but that still doesn't tell any additional story.

obviously on her back.

For me, first two are curvy "any time" and the third one I will call curvy and beautiful right after 3-4 beer pints.

Not so obviously to me. Could be on the side judging by the position of the legs, no?

Anyway, whatever and who cares. Thread's gone off-topic...

Misquoted for posterity.

Yes, because of this:

I want to know how you'd REALLY describe a person who looks like that to come up with that photo, because I think that if you were really searching for photos of "curvy woman", you would have gotten search results more similar to mine.

To be fair, mine also included an image of a semi- boobalicious babe giving a guy a blowjob (photo taken from his pov), as well as these images too:

The point being, that regardless of trying to nice things up here on the forum for whatever reason, you actually went looking for an offensive image to post.

why is it offensive? do you find photos of curvy women offensive???

@Peg-A: Here's the link to the discussion thread about that pic on Reddit.com and, as I suspected would be the case given that it was posted in "WTF", the commentary ain't nice - http://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments...ck_or_stomach/
