A friend of mine (as non-EU person) has been in Switzerland for 8 years - the first 5 years as a PhD student with training B permit and the last three years as an employee (1st year work L permit and 2 years so far work B permit). But he might get unemployed in three months. We are wondering if needs to leave Switzerland after a certain time in case he can not find the next role soon. Any advice and tip would be highly appreciated.
Hello all,
Should be eligible for RAV so as long as their permit is valid shouldn’t be a problem to claim unemployment and look for another job.
The period of 2 years with B permit seems to be enough to apply for unemployment benefits which may feel the gap between last and new job.
And...there's high demand for people willing to work. It may be more productive to start sending CVs, joining job fairs, calling ex-colleagues than worrying about unemployment.
Like others I think he can stay until the fixed length of the B-visa expires.
What would it be like if it was an L-visa instead?
So , there is no fixed time? like 6-12 months?
I think his work B permit will be expired one month after becoming unemployed. Where should he go to receive more information? Immigration office?
No, RAV, as they will be your next employer.
Do you know how long max he can receive the unemployment benefits while he is applying for new roles?
