I know no one can give an exact answer, but any indication or past experiences would be great.
I am a CH-citizen marrying a non-EU national. We did already the request from the foreign consulate to marry and to have a "marriage preparation visa" and it was processed correctly. The Zurich migration office asked for different documents to be able to give her the visa (my salary, wohnungsvertrag, a declaration that i can take care of her financially, betreibungsregisterauszug, proof of relationship with photos etc...).
I sent that last week.
Assuming no problems, how long can we expect to have to wait until my fiancee gets the visa to enter Switzerland so we can marry?
We totally understand that we need to wait for this Visa, but the uncertainty of not knowing how long can it take makes impossible for us to make plans, so that's why I am looking for people with a similar experience.
Thanks for any info!
My wife and I went through the same process back in 2017
It took 5 months in total. Submitted all the documents to the swiss embassy in March 2017 and got the marriage visa type D in August 2017
Not sure what changed after 6 years now, hope that helps and good luck!
I've been through this process recently and it took roughly 3 months also in Canton Zurich. But all depends on your citizenship and the country you're applying from (and ofc the Canton like Geneva it takes a year or so...).
My husband applied for this visa a year ago and it took in total about 6 months because they asked for different documents and an interview at the end.
Once everything was done it took about another month to get the visa.
The uncertainty was definitely the most difficult part. Only option is to be patient:/
thanks a lot to all!
At the end it took less than 2 months to get the visa since she sent the papers, so I guess we were lucky
