5 years ago my friend took 3 months to get it.
Each case is different so only general timelines. If the paperwork is in order and the prospective employer can make a good case then probably not too long. If documents are missing or need to be checked in other countries it’ll take longer. If the employer hasn’t dotted all the “i’s” and crossed all the “t’s” then they may be asked to advertise the job again to try and find a Swiss/EU national who could do the job.
Sent my diplima and criminal records translated today.

Criminal record? When my company applied for the B Permit (non-EU) for me three years ago, this is not needed. Maybe it is your company (and job) needs the criminal record check.
To answer your question, for me it took about 6 weeks. It is the whole process (from company getting all documents from me to getting authority approval, this confirmation then allows you to get your D visa from Swiss Consulate in your country)
Apart from documents need to be complete, the authority needs to be convinced by your company that they cannot find suitable talent in Switzerland and EU. Otherwise, this will generate delay. Another factor is the timing of the year. The Permit thing has "quota", and therefore near the end of the year is relatively hard to get. I think July/August is still OK.
