How many Ski Resorts in Switzerland

I guessed about 30, my friend who is an instructor guessed about 25...

How many would you guess there to be?

There is in fact (apparently) 162 resorts in Switzerland.

Does any body want to help me work through this list and find cheap places for day trips near Zurich / Central Switzerland?

This could become a very useful thread.

Looking at your map, there are quite a lot of resorts which are not marked, nor counted.

There is certainly alot..

Alot of them though I would just consider "a hill" and not really a proper "resort".

Not as useful as you'd think though since every place there is offers something slightly different than the next. I think when one is learning, the majority of things which interest experienced skiers/boarders are often not considered by the learner.

But...to answer your questions...in Zuri/Central...I've found Mythen Region to be the best value in central Switzerland. The mountains are split up into zones and you can buy access to any one of those zones. If you are just learning...you buy the yellow zone and pay only 23 francs. If you take the blue zone, it goes up to 43 (or so). This place has the best balance of access, price and variety. If you want to go cheap and easy...Sattel is good since you can get to it by bus without much hassle and it does not cost an arm and a leg. Hoch Ybrig is great too...but it costs more as there are more lifts.

In the end, it all depends on what you are looking for...at some point, the price you are willing to pay to find the best assortment of features you seek will slowly not matter. Cheap is relative.

It's kind of already been done - try this page and see if it helps you.
