how to get driver license immediatly?

I'm travelling in europe tomorrow and renting a car. already booked and payed.

Realized my driver license is missing - I have copies of it etc. but rental require the real deal. I went to local scan in Neuchatel but they no longer can print driver licenses on the spot it takes up to 7 days as it needs to get sent to Zurich.

Anyone know if there are a place in Zurich I can show up and get it printed on the spot so I can get a physical valid license before plane tomorrow?

Maybe I'll get a bunch of groans, but I use the Swiss driving license only when driving in Switzerland and around. When flying to somewhere else, I carry and show the other driving license. That's an advantage we have as foreigners, a replacement document to use in case of emergency

Is it even valid if you’re not resident there anymore? Lots of us have our previous licence taken of us when getting the Swiss one, so not an option.

The other card was required to hand in to get the Swiss one.

Maybe it's only for EU licenses? Our licences stayed with us. We also use them abroad.

Mine was Danish EU - was taken away when I exchanged it after a year.

They were quite strict about it.

Depends on your needs but I was recently in the same position and could not find my licence anywhere so had to cancel the car hire on the day I arrived. The car rental prices have recently rocketed and it was going to cost me 600€ instead of the usual 200€ but on using taxis to go everywhere it ended up costing only 300€, it made me think twice about hiring a car automatically for all my trips !

OP is from Neuchatel. Driving license is Kantonal authority no? I don't think StVA ZH will be of help.

Bit late for this trip but I'd suggest registering as a Hertz Gold Card Member which is free. All your license details are logged in advance and the one time I forgot my license I was able to use my passport as ID. Also saves on any queues which admittedly are few and far between at the moment...

Just checking here, but is it not illegal to drive in CH without your driving licence with you?

Edit, just checked, and the answer if yes- you have to have your driving licence with you whenever you drive in Switzerland (not a copy)

I understand that if you don't have it on you then you have to pay a nominal fine of CHF20 but as always will depend on the attitude of the cop.

My ex sister in law was once stopped in her car by the police in Cyprus. She was speeding, not wearing a seatbelt and eating a sandwich. She asked the policeman which infraction had the smallest fine and he just laughed at her boldness and told her to be more careful next time and let her go on her way without any penalties...
