Yep! I even ignored my book for the journey despite desperately wanting to read (which I never find time for, with three kids...). I didn't get a chance to visit anything outside of Harrogate (aside from Rudding Park, where the conference dinner was held), but I had a great time and will try to go back.
Monarch. I'd never heard of it but it was the earliest available flight. There were two cheap airlines checking in there (the other was jet2go, or something?) and the flight numbers were printed out on regular paper. It was weird. But heck, we got away early so I can't complain!
They're both low cost airlines. Monarch was one of the biggest charter airlines for quite a long time and Jet2 joined the budget airline scene about 15 years ago mostly flying from northern U.K. airports.
I remember Monarch Airways, my Mum flew from Luton to Tunisia with them back in '77 after her second marriage (yes, she took my step-father with her), think they went bust in the early ninties but were resurrected a few years later.
Just amazed that the old terminal is still in use, it always looks completely deserted.
Jet2 is Leeds' finest airline... ;-)
But most of their useful flights go from Manchester :-(
