How to get marihuana legally.

Can one just go to the doctor and get it prescribed. I need it for my arthritis.

You probably need it for something else beginning with "A too.......

In Switzerland there are only 3 cases where Cannabis can be prescribed:

1. Terminal Cancer

2. MS

3. HIV/AIDS

When prescribed it comes in the form of Sativex, a THC spray. It's super expensive so the Insurance companies will likely deny extended use of it. Insurance companies are assh*les.

I have Cystic Fibrosis and the only thing that helps with immediate pain relief is Cannabis. CBD alone is a myth (MAPS did a group study on the effects of THC, CBD and a placebo and the results were that CBD had the least effect, after THC, Placebo) - it's the fill spectrum of Cannabinoids that helps me.

I asked my CF team for a THC prescription and I was then told of the 3 groups who can have it. They will petition on my behalf.

You will sooner see it normalized for recreational use than available for medical use.

If you guys speak decent German and live in ZH city could you apply to join the legalization study carried out over the next years. You’d get legal cannabis from June or July.

I know the question was regarding legal acquisition of weed, however, I know lots of folks who smoke, don't do so legally, and have few to no issues getting it.

And I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but my impression of Switzerland is that weed is illegal, more or less, in name only. So long as you're not causing issues I don't think the Polizei will show any interest.

I've been recovering from reconstructive knee surgery and it has been difficult to get the flexibility and mobility back ... my surgeon seriously keeps recommending that I "smoke pot". I laughed it off for awhile, but I finally listened to his advice and it has genuinely helped to do so 1-2 x per week.

It's absurd that it isn't legally available these days, especially medicinally, while far more toxic and ineffective over the counter or prescribed drugs are.

Agree with Traubert, CBD has done absolutely nothing for me and I've tried the best oils etc. on the market.

I'm not sure that's not exactly what the OP wanted.

He wanted cannabis to provide symptomatic relief for a medical condition.

Research is on-going but there seems to be evidence that smoking weed can cause cancer and lung infections.

It definitely can cause cancer when smoked with tobacco.

Does he want to smoke weed or does he want a THC spray with a controlled dose?

There is a difference.

My friend prepares edibles and we use a vaporizer - there are all sorts of ways to take the herb.

Vaporizers

How about full spectrum CBD drops? Tried that as well?

Move to Canada.

Be careful crossing borders.

I know of someone flying from Canada, where it’s legal, to Arizona, where it’s legal, who was arrested, charged, fined and deported for minor possession.

Yes, did nothing

CBD. Does. Not. Work.

I agree on all points - and I'm positive my answer is not exactly what the OP wanted.

But if he's looking for marijuana (which I think is synonymous with weed, but I could be wrong), he may not be able to do so within the bounds of the law.

And absolutely, smoking weed ain't good for you, but it may be less bad for you than other conditions, or overall improve quality of life while shortening life somewhat.

I'm not a doctor or a lawyer, not even on TV, so even I'm skeptical of my own advice.

Full spectrum CBD, no. CBN, yes for pain and inflammation. CBG is also good but both of these are drowsy-making. CBD products only contain trace amounts of CBN and CBG.

You really need to get to nerd-level extraction techniques to get these.

CBD has fallen victim to marketing.

The best so far is a tincture made from as many strains as possible. This is the only way to really obtain a full spectrum of cannabinoids.

I don’t know why you write this with such confidence. There is evidence that CBD can have an anti-inflammatory effect in arthritis.

I thought I read once that it's legal in Switzerland to grow your own weed for personal consumption (which apparently is not that difficult to do), but maybe someone could correct me on that? I tried looking that up once but everything was in German. I do find the laws here, regarding weed, to be a bit confusing.

For myself, I would take it primarily to help with sleep problems, as insomnia is a recurring problem for me and has been for years, but I sleep like a baby after smoking weed. When my best friend was here last October, we smoked* almost daily and I hadn't slept so well, consistently, in years.

I've tried CBD before (a 10% spray bought at a kiosk here) and the only thing I noticed from it is that it helped me feel less stressed, but the effect was quite subtle. Basically, I felt stressed before I took it and then realized, after I took it, that I didn't feel as stressed anymore. But that's about it. I can see how CBD might help someone with stress and anxiety.

Anyways... If anyone does have any info regarding laws about growing it yourself here, I'd be grateful, because I was just researching how to grow it the other day -- how to germinate seeds, etc. I do know someone who is a nurse and grows it on her balcony.

This may be a confusion. It's only a tomato plant
