How to reserve parking for removalists

Does anyone know how to do this, or which authority to approach? I would like to reserve the 2 parking bays directly in front of my house for the day that I'm moving, so that the removals truck has plenty of room.

I'm in Basel-Stadt, and I have trawled the canton website ( https://www.mobilitaet.bs.ch/parkier...sel-stadt.html ) but cannot find any information.

I thought someone on here had once mentioned this was a police matter, rather than a canton authority matter, but of course I can't find evidence of that now.

It's definitely a Police matter. They'll do it for small fee.

We did it from abroad when we moved here and when we arrived, two places had been coned-off with a notice explaining why.

the keyword is umzug = moving. Hope your move is not that stressful

When we've had to make a move, or move furniture in to furnish an apartment, the removal company did it all without any intervention from us. I suggest you ask the removal company to take care of it for you.

When we had a truck for two days out in our street (even after we demonstrated to the movers that they could easily fit two trucks into one of our driveways), it was the movers who handled the permissions.

When I registered your family at the commune office, I asked about this, and they said that the movers likely had made the pre-move survey from the street, without entering our property, and contacted the police in advance.

It is my assumption, whether right or wrong, that they used the street because that permission had already been obtained. The guys that actually handled our stuff agreed that it probably would have been easier to do it all from the driveway and garden... especially when moving the 420+kg barbecue.

My removal company has explicitly stated that they don't do this, and that it's up to the client to arrange. I would much rather have punted the responsibility to them if I could!
