Hulu blocking VPNs ..

In how far? I'm paying for Netflix through my subscription. If I download off bit torrent, nobody gets any money.

I actually agree with this point. I also use IP masking services for all of my TV needs, as well as downloading torrents, and at least with IP masking you DO pay for the content.

My solution to the dumb decision made by Hulu. Get a cheap VPS then setup your own VPN server on it. Hulu only blocks IP addresses of known VPN providers. If you set up your own VPN server ( http://vpntips.com/how-to-setup-a-vpn-server/ ) you should be able to bypass Hulu's restriction. I just set up my own VPN server on DigitalOcean and it worked like a charm.

For other things, I use the free Anonymyx add-in for Firefox (& Chrome?). Not a real VPN, but it gives me apparent IP's in UK, US or NL. It let's me on to BBC iPlayer. Would this work for your problem too?

Have you tried a SOCKS proxy ? My wife's pretty happy with her Hulu experience with it a SOCKS proxy through a vps in the US.

Generally a good idea but I'm not sure DigitalOcean is the best choice here as their data transfer limits are rather strict - not exactly ideal for video streaming

Never mind - 2c per additional TB is alright

Thanks for the link. But how can I use it on the router or iPhone?

set it up myself today - works amazingly well and is about 5x faster than any commercial VPN service I've tested so far.

However, without some basic Linux sys admin knowledge, there's no way you can get this to work. Was surprised how quickly I got into this again - been years since I quit my job in the field.

I would be surprised if someone hasn't already created an amazon image which you can fire up on demand.

My server is super fast as well.
