Features i recommend are the possibility to run a line to drain as FF suggests, and suitable for use with power timers ( electricity is cheaper at night).

Sizing is the critical thing for energy efficiency. Think about cost of life (i.e including electricity) rather than just the cost of outlay. There is a sweetspot between too small and too big depending upon the room size.

Unless you have an enormous cellar, or are trying to dehumidify several interconnecting rooms (not likely to be very successful with one dehumidifier), that Stadler Form machine looks like overkill. It's suitable for rooms up to 70 sq m (175 cu m at standardish 2.5m ceiling height). However, the price isn't bad for the range on offer here -- although it doesn't look like that unit heats, which is an option you might like to consider (especially if you hang clothes to dry in your cellar).

I run a Primotecq E730H dehumidifier (from Fust) almost constantly in my laundry, which is 15 sq m or about 38 cu m (so my dehumidifier is also massively overspeced ), with great success (the intention though is to increase the drying capacity of the air, rather than to tackle damp in the construction of the cellar). You set the target humidity level and optionally, temperature, as the unit has the capacity to heat as well. Currently it is maintaining 35% humidity (that's very low) and 19° -- levels that are verified by a separate hygrometer and thermometer. It's very effective, however my unit cost more than the one you've found.

After shipping or transporting, do modern dehumidifiers need to rest upright for 24 hours before turning them on? I had a Kibernetik unit arrive and their were no markings or warnings on the box regarding keeping it upright. There is also no mention of this in the manual.

I've heard that waiting 24 hours applies to refrigerators that may have been tipped, but don't know if it applies to dehumidifiers or if it is even still relevant.
