I smiled because...

I decided to settle for a Lumumba and smiled because someone (sorry, I’m not sure who exactly although I have a hunch) on EF brought this into my life. Like many other little things around me, that came from EF over the decades, often just via a side-info.

That again made me remember this thread and yes, it actually made it into swissforum - worth an other smile. Although I know for a fact that there were loads of posts between 2008 (the last one here) and today.

Maybe others liked that thread too and would like it to continue, I will enjoy my Lumumba now.

One of the many things I love about Europe is the affordable winter flowers. Bought 3 no-name amaryllis bulbs last winter for 4€ each; they bloomed nicely, and I ID’d them as Apple Blossoms. Put them outside for the summer with lots of food, and this year they are 80cm tall! Last week Lidl had 3 hyacinths in a pot for 1,79€. When they are done, they’ll join previous years’ bulbs in the garden.

The parcel-post van arrived today (summend statt brummend=electric) and Eastern traditional music sounded from it, very nice music. The young guy jumped out, delivered the parcel to the milk-box and literally danced back to the van.
A lovely sight of enjoying life … while I had just cought up with the Trump-thread here.

Similar to what my Cats cough up I suppose.

yep. My typo is a Freudian slip actually.

My neighbour boy, who was 8 when we moved in, is all grown up now, a tall 17-year-old. Last night he wasn’t home…a van pulled up and his father and grandfather unloaded a shiny new motorbike, which they spirited off to the grandfather’s nearby garage. Must be his 18th birthday prezzie.

I hope it has a nice roaring sound and not that Japenese squeak.

Definitely no sqeak, even the ground is oiled well.

I smiled because I can make the computer do calculations and complicate stuff, but all I want from a light switch is ON/OFF, and feedback in the form of a satisfying click and some feeling for the finger(s).

Just realized I want the light switches in houses to be dumb, even retarded. Smart thingies are just exasperating.

A true smart lamp would turn on when you need it without you having to press a button or do anything else.

That might become reality one day… :joy:

I had to install my printer to the Linux computer today. I expected the worst. 80% of the time installing a printer is a pita.

It was just there!! And it knew it was a scanner as well!
This thing was never a plug&play with Windows.

I’m falling inlove with Linux.

Probably a printer designed for a Mac …

well, if it was it’s probably depressed by now. It has to (and does) obey to a windows laptop and a Linux PC in turns

I noticed the “listen to this story” is available in most articles now. First I though it was a silly thing for lazy people (I am a reader). Then I realized it is a very good thing for people with low vision and/or reading disabilities and accepted it as such.
Now I found out it’s a pretty groovy thing, I can get exactly the information I want and still move around and get things done.

By coincidence I hit this old thread.
Very entertaining, good giggle for a change.

I seem to be the only one smiling these days …
Last night a ladybug dropped on my table out of nowhere and spent half the night on it. Today it seemed to be sleeping in the kitchen-plissée.

Just now it landed on the table again, exploring the changes on it I guess. It must be very hungry by now.
Looks like I’ll be one lucky girl this week. Looking forward to that.

We’ve had several ladybugs in the living room this week. They look for warmth and will come in through cracks. They can set up house in the cracks between your walls and cause an infestation. We just siliconed all the window edges, inside and out…
