I'm about to sell my car in Switzerland (A4 Avant 2014) and I want to buy a new car from Germany since the Swiss market is so small I can't find the car I want here. I want to get an, second hand, Audi A6 Avant Quattro from 2019.
I read a lot about the importing procedure here on the english forum and on the official websites, but there's something that I am still confused about.
The CO2 emission tax, is it being applied to all cars which are imported or only to the new cars?
On the bfe.admin.ch it is stating
The regulations do not apply to vehicles that were previously registered in Switzerland or to passenger cars that were registered for use abroad more than six months before being declared at a customs office in Switzerland.
Does that mean that if I buy a second hand car from Germany I should not worry about this CO2 tax? As if I use the online calculator provided by the bfe.admin.ch I have to pay 4000 CHF only in taxes for the car I want to import, which is a bit too much.
Did anyone have any experience with this?
Is there an institution where I can call and clarify this?
